Louis "Lou" C. Schultz Jr. of Grove City, 74, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.
Lou was born on January 3, 1945 in Long Island, NY where his father was stationed during WWII.
He was raised in West Seneca, NY where he lived until he enlisted in the Navy in June of 1962.
Lou proudly completed 4 years of service on the aircraft carrier USS CV-62 Independence which participated in the Bay of Pigs Invasion and Vietnam War.
He briefly played the bugle in the Drum and Bugle Corp. In the Navy, Lou learned his lifelong trade of air conditioning and refrigeration.
He married his wife of 53 years, Gloria and they settled in Grove City.
Lou worked for United Refrigeration for 26 years, then Amana and Maytag and retired from A&E Factory Service in July 2012.
He was most proud of his grandson, Todd, who followed in his grandpa's footsteps and learned to play the trumpet followed by 5 years in the Ohio State Marching Band and director of bands at Upper Arlington High School.
Lou almost never missed an OSU game or concert where Todd was playing.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Bucy) Schultz; grandson, Todd (fiancé Kellen Lester) Fessler; son-in-law, Michael Fessler; sisters, Jacqueline (Richard) Mudd, Janice (Steve) Roller; aunt, Elaine (Jerry) Grot and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lou was preceded in death by his and Gloria's daughter, Michelle (Schultz) Fessler who passed away in January of 2017; parents, Louis C. Schultz and Verla Ruth (Richardson) Schultz.
Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City.
Funeral service will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
