Madeline Lyons, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Lewis Center. Born on June 20, 1939, in Long Island, New York, Madeline lived a life filled with love and service.
Madeline was known for her dedication to both the Lord and her family. She cherished her husband, Joseph Lyons, with whom she shared a loving marriage that lasted 66 wonderful years. Together, they explored the world, creating a lifetime of memories through their travels.
Family was at the center of Madeline's life. Madeline and Joseph raised five children: Vicki (Mark) Albright, Angela (Jim, deceased) Chesbrough, Cheryl (Stephen) Smith, Joseph (Carri) Lyons, and Anna (James) Fargo. She took immense pride in her grandchildren: Sarah Albright, Rebecca (Michael) Harvey, Michael Chesbrough, Joseph Chesbrough, Jacob Chesbrough, Elizabeth Chesbrough, Rachel Chesbrough, Hannah (Taylor) Hemphill, Cooper (Cassidy) Smith, Jessica (Nick) Brakovich, Zachary Lyons, Emma Lyons, Anna (Nolan) Kelly, Noah (Desirae) Fargo, Emily Fargo and Allison Fargo. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, including Landon Harvey, Brennan Harvey, Ellowyn Harvey and Violet Hemphill.
Madeline enjoyed entertaining her large family, bringing them together with delicious homecooked meals and lots of laughter. She was a lifelong learner. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, gardening and cooking.
Madeline's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who will remember her faith, kindness and the love she freely gave to those around her.
Visitation will be held from 10-11am, Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH, where a funeral service will begin at 11am.
A private graveside service will be on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Dayton National Cemetery.
