Malcolm "Red" Hugh Ballmer, 92, of New Albany, formerly of Reynoldsburg, went home to the Lord on August 29, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1933 in Columbus, to the late Stanford and Helen (Dolder) Ballmer. He married Eileen Sanderell on January 22, 1955 and was a devoted husband for 70 years until her passing on March 13, 2025. They created a large and loving family together.
Those left to cherish the memories of Red include his children, Jeff (Carol) Ballmer, Larry (Barb) Ballmer, Susan (Tom) Guy, and Linda (Doug) DiCocco; grandchildren, Adam Ballmer, Jessica (Kevin) Miller, Colleen (Patrick) Callaway, Nick (Amber) Ballmer, David Ballmer, Nathan (Meghan) Guy, Trent (Laura) Guy, Chad (Jayme) Guy, Anthony (Megan) DiCocco, and Angela DiCocco; great-grandchildren, Rylynn Callaway, Cora Miller, Taylor Miller, Evan Ballmer, Skylar Ballmer, Lucas Ballmer, and Isla DiCocco; sister, Doris (Gary) Cordas; niece, Melody (Donny) Zuccaro; great-niece, Samantha (Wayne) Harris; as well as many other family members and friends.
Along with his beloved wife Eileen and his parents, Red was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Thomas and Eric Ballmer Guy.
Red graduated high school and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1952 to 1956 as a Storekeeper 3rd Class.
When he returned from service, Red worked as a sworn Police Officer for Grandview Heights Police Department from 1959 to 1984. After retirement as a sworn officer, Red worked as a Dispatcher in the radio room for Grandview Heights Police Department from 1984 until his full retirement in 1994.
When Red wasn’t working, he loved to go camping. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching football. He also had an extensive collection of model police cars, whimsical pencil sharpeners and unique clocks. He will be remembered for his quick wit and humor. He loved making people laugh.
Immediate family will greet family and friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 4:30 pm until 7 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions - Northeast, 3047 E.

Entombment of the Cremated Remains of both Red and Eileen will occur on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, Ohio 43137.
