Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret “Peggy” Orlando, a vibrant soul whose laughter and love enriched the lives of all who knew her. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Louis (Curly) Orlando, and leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted sister, Mimi Kohler; her beloved children, Kim, Russell (David), Louis, and Dina (Steve). Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Nicholas, Eric (Donna), Francesca (Johnny), Thomas (Haylee), Louis (Courtney), Ralph, Adrianna ( Hannah), and Alex (Quincy). She was also blessed with six cherished great-grandchildren: Charleigh, Millie, Josephine, Nellie, Emilia, and Cameron, who brought boundless joy to her later years.

Peggy possessed an irrepressible spirit and a zest for life that was truly infectious. She was renowned for her candor, always speaking her mind with a twinkle in her eye, yet also possessing the wisdom to know when silence was golden. Her love for adventure drew her to the Jersey Shore, Pocono Mountains, and Lake Cumberland, each a cherished backdrop to countless family memories. A true epicurean at heart, Peggy savored the simple pleasures of a perfectly ripe Jersey tomato sandwich, Sunday Gravy, and of course a dish of hot peppers that was always on the stove. She was also something of a connoisseur and mentor, famously initiating many of the women in her life into the sophisticated enjoyment of a perfectly crafted martini, always with olives on the side – a signature touch that became a beloved ritual. Family gatherings under Peggy's roof, especially in New Jersey were always filled with joy and good food. These gatherings included spirited, if not always perfectly in-tune, renditions of Andrea Bocelli’s ‘Sogno’ album - and her grandchildren knew every line. Oh and she loved to dance. Her great-grandchildren were a boundless source of delight, their every giggle and milestone captured in person or lovingly displayed in her online photo albums, each new image bringing a radiant smile to her face.

Peggy, your absence leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts, yet your vibrant spirit, love, and the countless precious memories you’ve gifted us will endure forever. Thank you for everything; our lives are undeniably richer because you were in them.

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date for family and friends.
