Peggy obtained an Associate Degree from Columbus State Community College, and began her professional career in 1973 at CMACO as a Teacher/Center Manager. After several positions in the area of child and family services, she began her employment with Child Development Council of Franklin County, Inc., (CDC Head Start), as a Family Service Worker in 1993. Peggy was instrumental in recruiting families to open the Godman Guild Center located at 303 E. 6th Ave. She was the perfect candidate to build relationships between Head Start and the Godman Guild community. Often known as the energetic lady with the braids and raspy voice, Peggy was well known in the neighborhood. A true advocate, Peggy taught evening Parenting Classes and helped parents with GED, employment, housing and training programs.
After only 2 short years, Peggy was promoted to Family Service Supervisor, were she supervised a team of 9 Family Service Workers. Her leadership style was professional, candid and caring. Peggy had the canny ability to negotiate and get others to get the job done. In 1997, because of the wonderful relationship with Weinland Park Elementary, Peggy Rosser was a key member of the Project Reach Transition grant with Columbus City Schools.
Throughout her career with CDCFC Head Start, Peggy moved on to Social Service Manager, Partnership Manager and Area Manager. As Area Manager for the Partnership Program, Peggy lead a team of 10 staff to meet the needs of over 40 child care centers, serving over 700 Head Start children.
Her motto was Live, Laugh and Love and she strived everyday to find the perfect balance of all three. Her loving husband, family and coworkers will greatly miss Peggy's passion and drive!
Peggy was a very strong mother and grandmother to her children. She poured her support into their lives many times during her lifetime and we will miss her strength. We will miss most of all her passion for life, and her compassion for disadvantaged children everywhere. And we can never forget her enthusiasm for her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes!
Peggy was a very special daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend and we will miss her dearly.
