Marianne Sue Allmon

August 28, 1965 — August 8, 2025

Grove City, Ohio

Marianne Sue Allmon (née Burket), 59, passed away August 8, 2025 after giving her all to fight pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by her father, Roger Burket, she is survived by her mother, Leah Burket, her husband, Mark Allmon, her children, Lindsey (Colby) Reece, Kelsey (Gunnar Bernhart) Allmon, and Trevor Allmon, her grandchildren Oliver and Lily Reece, parents-in-law Marilyn and Herbert Weisenberger and William and Martha Allmon, her siblings Richard (Vicki) Burket and Kristin (Adam) Greer, nieces Kaylee “Kiki” and Alissa Burket, nephew Lukas Greer, siblings-in-law Lorina Allmon, Teresa (Dennis) Hall, Cristina Morris, William (Jill) Allmon, Patricia Maynard, James (Kim) Allmon, Dave (Stephanie) Allmon, Steve Allmon. and Gregory (Jamie) Allmon as well as many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Born August 28, 1965, in Grove City, Marianne—also known affectionately as Pi or Emmy, and perhaps more teasingly as Grammy Pi—was a graduate of Grove City High School before studying social work at The Ohio State University. She worked with the Public Defender’s Office, counseling juvenile offenders for years, both in the early 1990s and again in the 2010s when they excitedly welcomed her back after she took time away to raise her kids. (Her family would like to very publicly thank the PDs office for being so wonderful to her through everything—they really cannot thank you enough)

It was a no-brainer that Marianne worked with children every day—as wonderful a social worker as she was, it paled in comparison to how good she was at being a mom. Absolutely nothing was more important to her than her three children, and everyone knew it. She spent hours in classrooms and PTA meetings, traveled across Ohio and beyond to softball and baseball games and marching band contests, and supported them as they graduated high school and college. She always said, “Love you more,” and she did. She loved her kids more than anyone ever could.

In 2019, she was promoted from mom to grandma (AKA Emmy), and she was the best one of those, too. She requested an even dozen grandkids from her children, which she absolutely deserved, but was 100% never going to get. She was in the room when both of her grandchildren were born, right where she belonged.

Marianne was incredibly predictable in the best ways, and utterly fun in all the best ways, too. She’d look over a menu for 10 minutes before ordering the same thing she always did. She could unicycle and once learned how to trapeze. Her daughters could guess exactly what things she’d like in a store, right down to what she’d say about it. She would be the first in line for any roller coaster. She lacked all artistic talent and “vision”, but she could find the best deal on anything ever. She never went out without her hair and makeup perfect, even carrying around a butane-powered curling iron in her purse in high school. She loved REO Speedwagon, s’mores, anything raspberry (either flavored or the color of), and her favorite Disney character was Dopey. She would rarely cry at movies, but cried anytime her kids left for too long or achieved anything wonderful.

She was one of the best humans around, or as she'd say, “Practically perfect in every way, just like Mary,” and she is missed so much by all the people who loved her. We hope she found her dad, dragged him out of the bubbler, and is taking him on an adventure somewhere like he used to drag her around Disney World when she was a kid.
