Marilyn Elizabeth Chitison

March 3, 1928 — April 24, 2020

Marilyn Elizabeth (Williams) Chitison was born March 3, 1928, in Yellow Springs Ohio to her late parents Isaiah Williams and Martha (Alston) Williams. Marilyn grew up in Columbus and attended Columbus Public schools.

She worked at the St. Clair hotel and drove for the American Red cross. She was later united in marriage to her husband, the late Eugene Chitison Sr., and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. After moving to Cleveland, Ohio, she worked diligently at The Dunbar Nursing facility. She completed the curriculum to receive an Associate's Degree from Akron University, after which she climbed the corporate ladder and became the Executive Director of Housekeeping at The Margaret Wagner House. Having a great appreciation of her heritage and family, Marilyn used her talent of administration and delegation reverently as she founded The Stafford Family Reunion. She was an active member of the Peace Lutheran Methodist church for over 40 years in addition to being a lifetime member of Auxiliary 3764 VFW Post.

Affectionately known to others as Ms. Marilyn, Grandma, and Big Gokki, she shared her love for collecting coins and a variety of knick-knacks or trinkets. She was the first of five generations, proving to be a true matriarch of her family. She was very determined hence passing her strong willpower through the generations. Marilyn loved to bake her signature 7-up and Pineapple upside-down cakes, Pistachio pudding, and had an abundant passion for bowling, fishing, and playing Pokeno. Most significantly she enjoyed shopping and dining out with her friends on Thursdays. Marilyn was called home to the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2020.

She is preceded in death by her parents Isaiah and Martha Williams, brother Alston Williams, husband Eugene Chitison Sr., granddaughter, Kimberly Payne, grandson Timothy Jones and great-grandson, Trayvon Williams.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Vernell Smith-Brown, and Juanita Bradley of Columbus, Ohio, ten grandchildren, 45 Great-great-grandchildren, and a host of Great-great-great grandchildren. Special cousins Curtis (Beatrice) Williams of Xenia Ohio, and her friend of many years Helen "Dimples" Rose of Cleveland Ohio.
