Marion G. Purdy, nee Asbury, 91, of Lockbourne, Ohio, formerly of Kingsville, Maryland, passed away March 15, 2020.
Marion was born in Spring Creek, West Virginia on May 8, 1928. She moved to Maryland in the mid- 1940's, and then to Ohio to live with her daughter in 2004.
Marion is survived by a daughter, Glenda Purdy of Lockbourne, Ohio, a son, Greg, and his wife Pam, of Forest Hill, Maryland, granddaughters Natalie, Madeline, and Hannah, all of Forest Hill, a brother Dennis Asbury and his wife Gloria of Chase, Maryland, a brother, Wayne of Carrollton, Texas, and a sister in law Kitty Asbury of Rosedale, Maryland. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Marion is preceded in death by two husbands, Clinton DeBaugh, Jr., and Earle F. Purdy, Jr., and her brothers Charles Eugene Asbury, and David Glen Asbury.
Marion had a passion for singing, reading her Bible, gardening, birds and writing poems. She loved to bowl and work crossword puzzles. She was also a member of the choir and Ladies Fellowship at Southwest Freewill Baptist Church. Marion felt led to start a greeting card ministry for our church family with the hope of being a blessing and encouragement to others. Marion also was a cat lover, and leaves behind her loving companion Gracie.
The family of Marion Purdy wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Bella Care Hospice, including Kelley, Susie, Jessica and Quani.
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 18 from 5-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home-SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway in Grove City, Ohio. The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Thursday March 19, 2020 with visitation from 10-11am prior to the service. Pastor John Meade of Southwest Freewill Baptist Church will be officiating. The burial service will be private. A celebration of Marion's life is planned for a later date in Maryland.
