Marjorie Ann Kilanowicz, 90, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at Westerwood Retirement Center on September 12, 2025.

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 25, 1935, and spent her childhood years there. Marjorie graduated from Omaha University, which later became University of Nebraska Omaha. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and taught primary grades early in her career in Omaha and preschool for 20 years in Columbus.

She was married to Chester Kilanowicz for 53 years before his death in 2010. She is survived by her children Karen McManis (Scott) of Westerville, John Kilanowicz (Nancy) of Riverside IL, and Kaylyn Wall of Columbus along with grandchildren Alexander Wall, Haley Wall, Jennifer (Chris) Jiang and Stephanie (Zack) Boger. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Loren & Violet Cook, sister Anita Shaddy and husband, William, all formerly of Omaha and two sisters-in-laws and a brother-in-law from Minnesota.

Marjorie was a long time active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and more currently of St. Elizabeth Parish. While at St. Anthony, she served as a catechist, Eucharistic Minister and taught Bible School. Marjorie was also an active volunteer with Birthright and also served on their board of trustees. She loved arts and crafts, sewing and calligraphy, along with watching Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball. She was a life member of the Girl Scouts of America.

An 11:00 am funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd, Columbus, OH 43229, with one hour visitation prior to the Mass.

A luncheon will follow the ceremony. Interment of ashes at Resurrection Cemetery will be determined at a later date.
