Mark Znidar

September 22, 1953 — January 19, 2024

Mark Znidar, 70, made the choice to end his life on January 19th, 2024.

Mark was born to Anthony and Vera Znidar in Cleveland, Ohio where he attended St. Joseph High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Dayton.

Mark was hired on as a journalist by the Columbus Dispatch in 1985, where he remained a dedicated employee until his retirement in 2018.

Mark continued to contribute to the community he loved working as a part-time journalist for Press Pro's Magazine.

A skilled writer, Mark gave his heart and soul to the Central Ohio athletic community, having won numerous accolades and awards for his reporting.

In addition to being a talented writer, Mark was also a loving grandfather, living-room comedian, runner, and friend.

In his recent years, Mark has enjoyed life with his dogs, and his fiancée. Together, they lived a life that can only be described as absolute bliss. Whether they were walking their dogs, traveling the country, or enjoying a quiet breakfast at home, the joy they brought each other was obvious to all who knew them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, cousin Tom, and his beloved friend Jack.

Mark is survived by his fiancée, Barbara; His cousins Ron, David, Jayne, Kelly and many more. He will be forever remembered by his daughter, Amanda, his grandchildren, and his lifelong friends, Caryle, Donna, and Patti.

At Marks request, he was cremated without a service.

While Mark brought immense good to the lives of those who knew him, we must also hold space in our grief for the darker parts of Mark he chose to keep hidden.

We would furthermore like to acknowledge the trauma experienced by the witnesses, and thank the first responders for their rescue efforts that morning.
