Mary Jane Bowers Byers

Mary Jane Bowers Byers, 91, passed away June 1, 2025 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Mary was born August 1, 1933 in Enfield Center, Tompkins County, NY, a daughter of the late Byron Jonah and Ardis Putnam Bowers.

She was a graduate of Ithaca High School, class of 1951.

She never had any children, but she had a love for animals. For many years she worked in dog obedience training and judging dog shows at Cornell University. In Ohio, she worked for a Law Firm. She had pet cats and where ever she lived she would find a way to love and feed the animals around her place. Bob and Mary loved to travel and had lifelong Japanese friends.

She was predeceased by her 1st husband Aldelbert Clarence VanInwagen in 1966, was divorced after 7 years of marriage to her 2nd husband Howard Francis Gallow and predeceased by her 3rd husband of 30 years Robert Clede Byers of Dublin, Ohio in 2010.

She is survived by her nephews Earl and Diana Derr Buckingham, Marvin Buckingham and niece Sandra Kouf Lagasse and Great Nieces and Nephews Brenda Buckingham Mikula and children Danielle and Brandon, Dale Buckingham and children Allexa, Arianna and Dalton, Paula Buckingham and daughter Abigail Parker, Sheila Buckingham Nalley and children Stephanie and Jessica Maleski, Jennifer Lagasse and Johathan Lagasse and daughter Brynn.

There will be no service per Mary Byers wishes.
