Mary Jane Brandt (née Ballmer) passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Grove City, Ohio, at the age of 94. Born on November 13, 1931, in Baltimore, Ohio, Mary Jane lived a long and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew her.
Mary Jane was the beloved wife of the late Clarence Edward Brandt. Throughout their years together, they built a home filled with love and warmth. She was a devoted daughter to James P. Ballmer and Alice M. Ballmer and also remembered her step-mother, Sarah Ballmer, with fondness. Her family foundation was further enriched by the bond she shared with her late sister, Laura Miller.
She is survived by those who brought her immense pride and joy: her son, Michael (Teresa) Brandt. Mary Jane’s love reached another generation through her grandchildren, Lauren (Josh) Brandt-Quire, Darren (Lakshmi) Brandt, She was especially delighted by her great-grandchildren, Lennon Quire and Rocky Quire, whose smiles and laughter lit up her days. Mary Jane is also fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane’s life was a testament to dedication and compassion. Though her accomplishments and milestones were reflected most profoundly in the relationships she built and nurtured, those close to her will always remember her grace, wisdom, and quiet strength. She offered a listening ear to her family and friends, serving as a pillar of support during times of challenge and celebration alike.
Family and friends will gather to honor Mary Jane’s life at a visitation on August 18, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A funeral service will take place at the same location on August 19, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM. Following the service, a graveside ceremony will be held at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio.
Mary Jane’s legacy is felt through the generations she inspired and the many hearts she touched. She will be remembered with deep affection and admiration, and her presence will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
