Mary Alice Courts

Mary Alice Courts (Whiteside), 79 of Columbus went home to her savior on January 24th, 2019 at Scioto Community.

Mary and her twin sister, the late Margaret Skaggs, were born on their father's birthday December 28th, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Cecil and Mary Agnes (Sanderson) Whiteside. Mary was married to the love of her life, the late Larry Courts in August of 1959. Together they raised and are survived by their four children: Lisa Courts of Columbus, Kimberly Napier of London, Ohio, Larry Courts Jr. of Lancaster, and Dwayne (Janice) Courts of Galloway. Mary is also survived by her two sisters Ellie Mae Armtrout of Pataskala and Rose Holbrooks of Pataskala, brothers Eddie Whiteside of Columbus and Jimmy Whiteside of Columbus, and her niece Shari (Terry) Bentley of Columbus.

Mary had many things she cherished in this life including her love for sweets, jewelry, country music, bingo, and Elvis. However, her most prized possessions were her eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. In her last few years, Mary was a resident of Scioto Community where she made several friends and could be seen daily cruising around in her teal Jazzy chair. Mary's family would like to give a special thanks to Scioto Community and Hospice of Central Ohio for the compassionate care they provided Mary in her last days here on earth.

Family and friends can pay their respects at Newcomers Northeast Chapel 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd Columbus, OH 43231 on Saturday January 26th from 3pm-4pm with a celebration of life service led by Brother Michael Nichols II following at 4pm.
