Mary Darlene Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on March 11, 1937, in Columbus, Mary lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.
For 30 years, Mary dedicated herself to her career at Lancaster Sales, where she excelled in various roles, ultimately becoming an Assistant Manager and lead cashier. Her professionalism was matched only by her big smile and her heartfelt desire to connect with others; she didn't meet a stranger and genuinely cared for the well-being of those around her.
Mary was a loving peacemaker who sought to ensure everyone was happy. Her giving nature extended beyond her family; she volunteered for the American Red Cross and was an active member of Victory Hill Church of God, where she found solace in her faith and the community she cherished. She was proud to be part of the Disaster Action Team, lending her strength and compassion during times of need.
Mary had a deep passion for her hobbies, which included tending to her vegetable garden and showering her beloved dogs—Sasha, Malina, and Comfort—with affection. She was an avid Bible studier and often found inspiration by watching different pastors on television, reflecting her commitment to her faith.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. Mary leaves behind her cherished children, Kathleen Mundy, Errol Jones, Brent (Tamara) Jones, and Jason Jones. She also leaves a legacy of love in her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Gary Woods, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mary's love extended to her late husband, Lowell Jones, with whom she shared 40 wonderful years. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Aleathea Jones, son-in-law, Glen Mundy, her brother Ted (Evelyn) Woods, and her parents Frank Woods and Margaret (Horn), along with her stepmother, Billie Woods.
In her final moments, Mary left a touching note for her children, sharing words from James 5:9, "Grudge not one against another, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge standeth before the door." This message encompasses her spirit—one of forgiveness and love.
Mary Darlene Jones will be remembered not just for her generous heart and giving nature but also for the immense joy she brought to those lucky enough to know her. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her extraordinary life during visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest in Grove City on October 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on October 9, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Baltimore, Ohio at 12:30 PM.
Though she has departed from this world, her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all she touched.
