Mary Jane Hetzel

Mary Jane Hetzel, 86 of Gahanna passed on July 25, 2019. She was born on January 31, 1933 in Columbus to Russell and Doris (Savage) Boggess who preceded her in death. She is survived by daughter Vicki Schulz, sons Steve Jones (Julie) and Dean Jones (Nancy). Step daughters Julie Miller (Shannon), Susan Gray (Denny). Grandchildren Heather Bohannon (Craig), Shawn Buker (Nicola), Jason Jones, Jennifer Murdock (Steve), Steve Jones (Kasey), Colleen Ruark (Jason), Morgan Kauser, Ethan Miller, Alyssa Miller. Great grandchildren Kristen, Megan, Bryce, Xander, Parker Anne, Cheyenne, Tyler. Great-great grandchildren Noah and Malekai.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Valerie Kitchen, and husbands Norman Jones and Joseph Hetzel.

Mary was a graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High school and a long-time member of Liberty Presbyterian Church. She was a much loved member of the church's "Top of the Hill Gang". She served as a member of the Columbus Sea Gals and the Columbus Power Squadron. Some of her favorite activities included sewing, crocheting, cake making, daily ice cream eating, painting and boating. She was lucky at cards (some thought too lucky)!

Mary (Mom, Nana, Grandma, GG'Ma) leaves behind a life-time legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends.

A time of visitation and fellowship will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at the Liberty Presbyterian Church at the corner of SR 315 and Home Road near Powell in Delaware County. The services will be held in the White Chapel.

The visitation will be from 4:30 – 6:00. The memorial service will start at 6 pm with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kindred Hospice of Gahanna or the American Cancer Society of Central Ohio. The family was assisted by the Newcomer NE Chapel of Columbus.
