Mary Lou Conley

Conley, Mary Louise (Brown), age 65, of Hilliard, Ohio passed away at home, on her farm on August 16th, 2017 after a courageous battle of an extended illness.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32+ years, (Boyd) Jay Conley (Hilliard, OH), Brother Don L. Brown and nephew Zachary Brown (both of Cullowhee, NC), Uncle, Aunt & cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandparents Neville & Jesse McJunkin, Mother Kathryn McJunkin-Brown, Brothers Paul C. Brown and Neville Brown.

Born December 4th, 1951 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., raised in her beloved mountains of Cullowhee, NC, she was a Class of 1970 graduate of Bexley HS (Ohio). She earned her bachelors degree from The Ohio State University class of 1976, in Clothing& Textiles and Home Econ. She gained employment at Ohio State University in the purchasing department. She later transferred to work in the OSU Agricultural Dept. and simultaneously gained her horsemanship certification from the LeBorveau Equestrian Academy. Growing up with and riding her horses Firefly, Biscuit, Delores and Popeye in the Smoky Mountains, she transitioned to fulfill her lifelong dream of working with horses by building and maintaining a successful equestrian eventing business in central Ohio named Maple Wind Stables. She never considered daily chores to be work, where she boarded 2 full barns, taught lessons, trained, competed and bred broodmares while raising the offspring. Mary Lou was active in the local chapter of the Central Ohio Combined Training Association (COCTA) and as the President in 1990. She earned membership into the USCTA Blue Ribbon Club from numerous competitions on her horse BJ "Beanie" (Billy Joe) & Phantom "Tommy". She worked under Olympic and top level equestrians holding clinics while her tenure as Co-Chair of the USEA (USCTA) Area VIII Adult Riding Program. In 1996, she was awarded the USCTA's Governors Cup Trophy for her work. She maintained her active lifestyle up to the onset of her disease. She will be sorely missed.
