Mary Leota Pope passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27 at her assisted living home in Gahanna. She was 92 years old, living her life to the fullest.
Mary is survived by her three children, Cindy (Doug) Hessenauer, Jerry (Diane) Pope, and Terry (Nancy) Pope; sister Loretta Story; brothers Loren, Lanny, and Tommy Long; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sisters-in-law, and many others awaiting her arrival. She was loved!
Mary had a knack for making her family and friends - and even those she didn't know - feel incredibly loved. She was known for her sense of humor, sharing stories of her past, and bragging about her grandchildren. She had a spunky personality - she loved driving around in her yellow Volkswagen bug (yes, it included magnetic eye lashes and a Tweety Bird license plate). She loved getting manicures and perms, and had the best outfits - she took pride in her appearance and always looked amazing. Mary also had an impeccable way of offering advice - always sharing the newest dating sites for her single granddaughter. She was positive, funny, and loved her life. She was our angel on Earth.
Calling hours to remember and celebrate her life will take place on Tuesday, December 4 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Southwest Chapel in Grove City, OH. A service will follow calling hours at 1:00 p.m., with a burial at Green Lawn Cemetery immediately after. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Central Ohio (2269 Cherry Valley Rd. Newark, OH 43055), as their care and comfort eased Mary's transition to eternal peace, and we are grateful!
