Mary Theresa Sabate Torbica, 92, of Upper Arlington, passed away December 9, 2015, at Kobacker House. Mary was born in Canton, OH on January 29, 1923, to Joseph and Juana (Quinones) Sabate and is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Torbica; sister, Amelia Miller; brothers, Henry Sabate, Joseph Sabate and Victor Sabate; nephews, David Winters, Rik Sabate, Richie Torbica; niece, Erica Miller.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Jay) Nash of Cincinnati and Jane Torbica of Columbus; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Mary attended Kent State University and The Ohio State University, where she studied Art History and Architecture. Mary had a successful career prior to her marriage and was considered ahead of her time. She was an aircraft illustrator at North American Rockwell, working as a draftsman for the State of Ohio Highway Department where she was known as "the woman on the board".
Mary met and married George in 1959, with the union producing two daughters. Mary was an outstanding homemaker in addition to supporting her husband's political activities and being one of the founding families of St. Stevan-Decani Serbian Orthodox Church. Mary loved the arts, cooking, sewing and crafting.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, 2:00 PM at First Community Village in the Chapel at The Burkhart, 1802 Riverside Drive, Columbus, OH 43212. Family will receive guests at the conclusion of the service.

Private burial will be at Union Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
