Matthew E. Young

Matthew Edward Young, age 53, passed away January 4, 2015. He was born on February 1, 1961, in Columbus, to the late Thomas and JoAnn Young. Matt was a 1979 graduate of Columbus North High School.

Matt was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and bled scarlet and gray. He was very artistic, continuing on the family tradition of making clothes trees. Matt enjoyed singing, dancing, and was a talented chef. He cherished his family and lifelong friends, more than anything. Matt was a very generous and compassionate person, helping everyone that he could. He truly had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas; nephews, Brandon and Jason; and granddaughter, Grae Maia.

Matthew is survived by his loving bride, Diane; daughters, Katlyn, Ashley (Matthew Martin), and Kiah; grandsons, Matthew Ryan and Jaxton Carter; siblings, Linda (Billy Marshall) Zultz, Peggy (James) Rhoades, Kathy (Mike) Riegelman; Steve (Kim) Young, Christine (Norvil) Hounshell, Roberta (Colton) Danberry, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather from 5-7pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, with a funeral service beginning at 7pm.
