Melanie Dawn Warthen (Hogue)

Melanie Dawn Warthen (Hogue), affectionately known as "Mel" and "Mawmaw" to her grandchildren, was a beacon of love and selflessness in the lives she touched. Born on March 11, 1954, in Newark, Ohio, Melanie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, deep caring for others, and a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her. She passed away on August 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and enduring love.

As a devoted stay-at-home mom, Melanie poured her heart into nurturing her family. Later, she embraced the joys of grandparenting, dedicating her time and love to her beloved grandchildren, who were a testament to the beautiful life she and her husband, Gary, built together over 55 years of marriage. She often spoke with pride about the life they created, filled with unconditional support and affection, and her spirit shines brightly through their shared accomplishments.

Melanie was well-known for her selfless nature, always putting the needs of others before her own. She approached life with a warm heart and a generous spirit, never hesitating to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her love for her family was evident in all she did, from spending memorable times antiquing to cheering on her husband as he played drums. She had an immense passion for country music, which often filled their home with sounds of warmth and joy.

Her strong faith in the Lord guided her through life, serving as the foundation upon which she built her family's values. As a loving daughter, sister, and friend, Melanie’s presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by many.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Margaret Hogue; her devoted husband, Gary Warthen; her cherished daughter, Michelle Lynn (Michael) Chapin; and her siblings: Michael (Linda) Hogue, Dennis (Cindy) Hogue, Pamela (Dale) Koski, and Larry (Debbie) Hogue. Her heart will always be with her treasured grandchildren, Jaylen (Payton) Chapin, Kaidra (Michael Gulasy) Chapin, Ava Chapin, along with many more cherished family members and care givers. Melanie also leaves behind her lifelong best friend, Cheryl Dawson, who shared in many of life's beautiful moments.

Preceding her in death was her father, Larry Hogue, who will be welcomed with open arms as they reunite in the afterlife.

Melanie's legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her. She may have departed from this earth, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
