Melody Kaye Helmig

Melody Helmig, 61, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026 in Columbus, Ohio. Melody was born on July 25, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio to Daniel and Phyllis (Morris) Kingery.

Melody is preceded in death by her parents, son Jeremy Kingery, and brother Daniel Kingery.

She is survived by son, Josh (Stephanie) Helmig, daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Watson, brother, Ty (Marcie) Kingery, grandkids: Xander, Jocelyn, Daniel, Legend, Lenox, Jacob, Riyah, Zoey, nephews, many great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Melody known as “Mel” or “Aunt Mel” to most, spent a majority of her life raising babies and working at Riverside Hospital. She was easy to talk to, loved by all and loved others unconditionally. She enjoyed spending time with her 8 grandchildren and family. She loved gardening, crafting, and a nice cold Coca-Cola.

Melody never hesitated to help anyone. She was always a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear and there lifting others up. Even in her death she continued that legacy by being an organ donor.

She will forever be loved and missed by so many.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia Clinical Research Foundation or American Brain Tumor Association in Melody's honor.
