Melvin Ray Marshall, born on January 21, 1940, in Alvada, Ohio, peacefully passed away on May 23, 2025, at Truman Pointe Care Center. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished member of his community.
A proud graduate of Vanlue High School and an attendee of Franklin University, Melvin had a remarkable career that reflected his extensive skills and dedication. He served as a salesman at Clarklift of Columbus, Harrs Material Handling, and Schrader Material Handling. Additionally, he showcased his mechanical talents as a mechanic at Bowlmor, formerly Sawmill Lanes. Melvin also proudly served in the United States Airforce, where he became a B52 Crew Chief.
Known for his kindness and integrity, Melvin was described by those who knew him as the sweetest man, never speaking ill of others and always embodying honesty. His strong work ethic and passion for staying busy were evident throughout his life. He had an innate mechanical ability, earning him the affectionate nickname "Mr. Fixit." Melvin cherished his time reading and connecting with his family, particularly through the sporting events of his grandsons, Jack and Owen.
Melvin Marshall is survived by his loving spouse, Toni Ann Puccetti Marshall, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years, his daughter Melissa Christner and son-in-law Michael Christner, and his son John A. Marshall and daughter-in-law Amanda Marshall. He also leaves behind his adored grandsons, Jack and Owen, and his brother A. Doug Marshall and sister-in-law Brenda Marshall of Findley, Ohio. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Larvell and Gaynell Marshall.
A visitation will be held on June 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest, located at 10051 Brewster Ln, Powell, Ohio, 43065 followed by an 11:00am service at the funeral home. A Graveside service with Military Honors will take place at 2:00pm June 10th at Dayton National Cemetery.
The legacy of Melvin Ray Marshall will endure through the lives he touched, defined by his unwavering love for family and his gentle spirit. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
