He is preceded in death by his ten siblings.
Surviving family includes children, Ahava Israel, Mark Millard, David Millard, Tina David, Bernadeen (Todd) Strohm; thirty grandchildren; and thirty great grandchildren.
He was a retired decorated war hero specializing in communication in the United States Army. He received many metals of accommodation for his service in the military.
Melvin was a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and owned several small businesses.
