Miladene C. Arnold

Miladene Cole Arnold, of Galloway, Ohio. Miladene joined the lord in eternal peace during the night, passing peacefully in his hands at 95 on August 6th, 2026, just days before her 96th birthday.

Miladene Cole, affectionately known by family as “Millie”; was the fourth of nine children born to parents, Icie (Kirk) & Howard Cole; she born in the summer of August 9th, 1930, in Cool Ridge, West Virginia, she grew up surrounded by the love and lively spirit of a large family. She shared her humble beginnings with siblings: Erma, Kenneth, Terry, Hermitt, George, Bill, Dan and Lynn.

As a proud graduate of Shady Springs High School, Class of 1948, Millie carried alongside herself: a strong work ethic, diligence, and deep-rooted values that would come together to shape her family's lives. In 1950, she made her home in Columbus, Ohio, whereas in 1957, she married her husband, Max Arnold. From their union came Kathy Jo (Rusty) Purcell and Jeffrey Cole (Marie) Arnold; together they raised seven children.

Millie dedicated 25 years of service to The State of Ohio’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation before her retirement in 1995. She was known for her diligence, dependability, and strength; all qualities that extended far beyond into her home-life.

Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family. She was a proud grandmother to Misty, Zachariah, Lindsey, Justin,Tiffanie, Stephanie and Sean,and cherished great-grandmother to 28 great-grandchildren. Her home was a place where generations gathered, stories were shared with mirth, and love was always in abundance; a true reflection to her belief in “One Family, Many Hearts”.

Millie had a natural gift for making life filled with beauties, great and small alike; she found her daily joy in gardening, nurturing both plants and people to grow to their fullest potential with the same kind of country care. She was an avid quilter, a creative spirit who stitched together not only fabric, but memories and traditions that’ll continue to live on for generations to come.

She had a flair for creating warmth and magic in everyday life, especially around the holidays, Christmas-time in particular, was continuous a reflection of how big her heart could truly be. Her home would glow with beauty and timeless loving intention, every detail thoughtfully placed, her tree always lit just right. She found thrill in “junkin’,” treasure hunting through thrift stores, transforming simple finds into something extraordinary when it was paired alongside her eye for beauty; letting her creative touch run wild, she had a way of making everything — and everyone around her, feel priceless.

Millie will forever be remembered for her spunky spirit, her strength, her creativity, and most of all, her endurance through tough times and the unconditional love she put into her family. She leaves behind a legacy not just in numbers, but in the deep, long-lasting connections with every life she’s reached.Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty that comes from familytime. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever live on in the gardens she tended, the quilts she stitched, the traditions she created, and the many hearts she held together as one family.

Millie is survived by children, Kathy Purcell and Jeffrey Arnold, 7 grandchildren, and siblings Dan Cole and Lynn Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Kenneth, Terry, Hermitt, Erma, George and Bill.
