Miles Dewey Morris Jr.

Miles "Dewey" Morris Jr., 93, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Miles was born on July 19, 1933, in Raccoon, Kentucky, to Miles Dewey Morris Sr. and Octavia Chapman. He was the third son of 11.

Miles is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ellen (Friley) Morris, daughter Penny (Darrell) Van Dyke, and grandson Jason Whiteside.

He is survived by son, Don (Patsi) Morris, daughters, Deborah (George) Rodgers, Diane (Russell) Myers, honorary daughter Rosanne (Phil) Scarberry, grandchildren Donnie Morris, Kari Dennis, Chris Rodgers, Wanda Bloch, Chelsey Rodgers, Crystal Linehan, Erik Noel, Cierra Noel, Kelli Whiteside, and Joey Whiteside, 29 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He was a very kind, lovable Pampal to everyone. He worked for Midco Products Incorporation for 44 years. He came to Columbus, Ohio, in 1953.

He was a family man. In his entire life, he never missed a weekend at Beaulah Park and Scioto Downs. Diane, George, and Don were always with him watching the horse racing. Horse racing was a passion for him and his wife.

He loved to garden. When he was done, he'd sit in a rocking chair in the garage and smoke his cigars with a glass of Drambuie. Debbie and Dad loved to walk through the park of roses every night.

He had a passion for his dogs, Foxy and Molly.

The family would like to thank Luminary Hospice for the loving care they provided their dad and pampal.

The family would also like to thank George for all the time, effort, and energy that he put into caring for Dewey. They do not know what they would have done without his help.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 12:30 pm also at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery.
