Nancy Harper of Marengo, Ohio was born December 3rd, 1942.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10th, 2020 at the age of 78. Her job here on earth is done.
Nancy was born in Jamaica, NY to Henrietta McMahon. A true New Yorker, Nancy was always ready for an adventure. This included meeting a young Marine at a USO dance in Baltimore, MD. Nancy married this young man from West Virginia. She had two children Tina King (Michelle) of Ashley, Ohio and Todd King (Angela) of Marysville, Ohio.
The marriage didn't last forever but their friendship did.
Nancy was the living example of everything happens for reason. She had to meet that Marine that brought her to Ohio so she could later meet the love of her life Charles Harper. Nancy and Chuck were married and spent the next 40 years together. They both loved playing cards and spending Tina and Todd's inheritance on QVC.
Nancy worked for 33 years at the Bron Shoe Company in Columbus, Ohio. She was very proud of her work. The thought of preserving memories for people brought her great pride. After retirement, Nancy became a member of the Vineyard Church of Morrow County. Being a member of the church gave her the strength to keep going after Chuck passed in 2016.
The YMCA of Marion is where you would find her most days. Nancy loved the "Y" and her group of friends there. She was always ready for a cruise or a road trip. If she wasn't at the "Y", you would find her volunteering at local Food Panty.
Nancy's greatest gifts were her Grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.
Jessica Mullins (John), Peyton King, Michael Umphlettee (Alicia), Ryan Umphlettee, Stephanie Umphlettee (Delmer) and Charlie aka her Chubba.
She was also blessed with two great granddaughters Riley and the newest addition little Miss Karsyn.
Calling hours will be held at the Vineyard Church of Morrow County in Fulton, Ohio on Friday, October 23rd from 4:30pm to 6:00 pm. At 6:00pm there will be a celebration of life. ****We will be practicing social distancing and masks are required at all times.
