Naomi E. Helfrich, 86, passed away August 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Laura Woolard; and sister, Ruth Wilson. Naomi is survived by her husband of 48 years, James B. Helfrich; children, Diane (Mike) Gattas, Tammy (Jeff) Dingus, Jim (Dawn) Helfrich, Gertie Helfrich, and Bernard (Ann) Helfrich; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon), Katheryn (Dylan) Bowling, Jonathan Gattas, Emily (Tim) Bradshaw, Courtney (Michael) Ruther, Oliver (Kelly) Helfrich; many great-grandchildren; nephew, Gregory (Kim) Cox; as well as other extended family and friends.
Naomi worked for the Department of Defense for 35 years. Many may know her from her daily walks in her neighborhood and good conversation. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching birds in her yard, and volunteering for those less fortunate. Naomi was known for her silliness and ability to make others laugh. She also loved to feed her family with wonderful home cooked meals and desserts. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
Visitation Monday, August 31, 2026 from 11am until 1pm at Newcomer, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd, Columbus, OH 43230. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Pataskala.
