Listen to Obituary

Natalie June Walden, 75, passed away on November 16th surrounded by family and loved ones. She was the widow of Don Walden whom she shared 37 years of marriage with.

Born in Newark, Ohio, she was a lifelong resident of the Buckeye State. Having waited until her children were mostly grown to attend college, she worked full time while perusing her education from Columbus State Community College, where she later became a part-time professor. She retired from Nationwide Insurance where she was a paralegal, one of her proudest life accomplishments.

She belonged to St. Andrew United Methodist Church for many years where she sang in the choir, served as a member of the women's group and celebrated her love for bible study, singing and any social gathering with a reason to serve others food, and socialize. After retirement she traveled as often as she could, with special trips to Australia, Mexico, Florida and New York with family and friends. When not traveling, she loved her afternoons spent at the Reynoldsburg Senior Center taking an exercise class or riding along for a daytrip to site see around the State, more often than not the day ended with lunch at a local favorite diner.

She will be remembered for her faith, her love of her family, The Ohio State Buckeyes, being outdoors--especially planting flowers and occasionally grabbing a rock from wherever her daily adventure had taken her.

She never sat still for very long and was always up for an adventure; watching her grandchildren at sporting events and dance recitals, sitting around someone's fire pit or attending the State Fair -- if you asked her, she’d show up with some sort of food, probably a bouquet of flowers and most likely her 1st question would be, “when are we playing cards?”

Natalie was one of a kind. If she knew you, she loved you, and she loved to strike up conversations with complete strangers. She will be missed by all who knew her and forever cherished by all who loved her!

She is survived by her children, Shellie (Shon) Cook, Tod (Jackie) White, and Kelley (Gary) Nixon. Sister, Virginia Marshall; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends.
