Obituary for Nathaniel Joseph Kerby
Nathaniel Joseph Kerby was born on July 9, 2007, at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, to his loving parents Simeona and Ungil Kerby. Nathaniel was called home far too soon, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply.
At the age of nine, Nathaniel was baptized at Columbus Christian Center, where he began his spiritual journey. He recently celebrated an important milestone as a proud graduate of Youth Build Community High School, a moment that reflected his determination and the bright future that lay ahead.
Nathaniel, affectionately known as “Nate,” had a passion for cars—both new and old—and could spend hours talking about them. He also enjoyed playing video games and spending time with family and friends. His presence, laughter, and unique personality brought joy to those around him, and he will always be remembered for the love he shared with others.
Nathaniel was preceded in death by his father.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Ungil Kerby; his sisters, Naomi and Adrianna Shaw; and his brothers, Aaron and Alexzavier Kerby. He is also survived by his grandmother, Scquetta Kerby; great-aunt Mary Williams; great-uncle Titus; great-uncle Joel Kerby; uncles David, Hezekiah, and Charles, Claudio Kerby; aunt Shamaya Kerby; grandmother Patricia Council; great-aunt Shirley Hill; Judy Davis; aunt Danyelle Poston; uncle Charles Russell Jr.; grandfather James Poston; uncles James Jr., Tony, and Charles Poston; along with a host of extended aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Nathaniel’s life, though brief, left a lasting impact on everyone who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him.
