Neva Iris (Brewer) Penny, 100, of Columbus, passed away at Doctor's Hospital on August 18, 2014. She was born in Vallonia, IN on July 18, 1914 to the late Samuel and Sallie (Waskom) Brewer.

She was a graduate of Indiana School for the Deaf in 1935. She retired from Joyce Shoe Company. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptists Church of the Deaf. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Penny and her 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survived by her children, Patricia (Barry) Ackroyd of Cleveland, Charlene (Kenneth) Calogar of Marblehead, Thomas (Mary) Penny of Coshocton, Richard (Jolene) Penny of Grove City, William (Tammey) Penny of Pickerington, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH. The funeral service will begin at 11am, Friday, August 22, 2014 at the funeral home, with visitation from 10-11am.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Driftwood Christian Church, 5564 South State Road 135, Vallonia, IN 47281.
