Norman Edward Schneider II

April 11, 1949 — May 19, 2025

Norman “Norm” Edward Schneider II, affectionately known as "Grandpa Storm" to his grandchildren, was called home to our Lord & Savior on May 19, 2025, at the age of 76. Born April 11, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, to Norman Sr. and Anna Schneider, Norm lived a life devoted to faith, family, and community.

A 1969 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School, he went on to serve his country with pride and dedication in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1977, specializing as an Airframe Repair Specialist, including two years of overseas service in Guam. His devotion to country remained lifelong, and it was rare to see him without his beloved Air Force hat. Norm's professional career included over 25 years at OKI Systems/CROWN, working on forklifts, and later he found great joy in serving the Hilliard City School system as a janitor. Whether fixing things or cleaning up after others, he did it all with quiet pride and joy, never seeking recognition.

On March 30, 1974, Norm married his beloved Jeanne Anne at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus following his enlistment. For 51 years, they were inseparable - her greatest supporter, constant companion, and truest friend. Their marriage was a living testament to unwavering devotion, and every day of their life together was marked by a quiet, steadfast love. Together, they raised three children.

A member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 40 years, Norm lived his faith deeply and quietly, embodying the teachings of Philippians 2:3 and Matthew 22:39 in everything he did. Whether working in AWANA as the Game Director, supporting the bus ministries, helping run the sound booth or ensuring audio recordings were taken to shut-ins on a weekly basis.

His passions were many: a deep love for trains, any vehicle on wheels and a remarkable ability to find and hold onto treasure that others might consider junk. He had a lifelong respect for firearms, valuing both their craftsmanship and the responsibility that came with handling them safely—a value he upheld with care and seriousness. His greatest love was photography and videography. He had a gift for capturing life through the lens—countless hours of video footage and photos captured every church or family event. This also earned him the nickname “Wide Angle”.

Norm cherished time with his family, attending countless soccer, football, and baseball games, cheerleading and track events, wrestling matches, and concerts. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, whether it was at Monster Truck rallies, Marvel Live, Disney on Ice, or seeing the best band in the land at the Ohio State Skull Sessions on campus. Fridays during football season, he could be found filming on the side lines for various high schools and Saturdays were devoted to donning his scarlet and gray rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes! Norm fully embraced adventures loved by his children and grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and younger sister, Norm leaves behind a profound legacy of love and service. He will be deeply missed by his wife Jeanne, his children Jason (Chrissy), Seth (Crystal), and Rachel Schneider; his grandchildren Noah, Livi, Jackson, Samuel, Abigail, Jaycee, and Lincoln Schneider; his sister-in-law Alice (Ken) McGhee; as well as extended family members and dear friends who will miss his kind spirit and quiet strength.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, 43123. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 6:30 pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Chuck Pausley Jr. Interment, with military rites, will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Dayton National Cemetery at 9:00 am.
