Listen to Obituary

Norman Kent Parks, a dedicated family man and esteemed member of his community, passed away on February 26, 2026, in Plain City, Ohio. Born on October 18, 1944, in Canton, Ohio, he spent his life as a source of love and strength to those around him.

Norman was a 1962 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. He devoted 30 years of his career to sales and service at the Burroughs\Unisys Company and later worked in sales at Media Recovery. He also enjoyed his time as a night auditor at Staybridge Suites and as a shop concierge at Bullet Liners.

Norman was known for his warmth and generosity. He took pride in his role as a friend of Bill W, and he made a positive impact on many lives by sharing his story with prisoners to help them with their sobriety. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. His beautiful memories include going on drives with his wife, Carol. He enjoyed fishing and grilling his catch.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol (Greku) Parks, and their children, Stephanie (David) Reames, Joel Ellen (Mark) Stewart, and Jason (Christina) Parks. He also leaves behind grandchildren Craig Reames, Matthew Reames, Hannah Stewart, and Hunter (Madison) Stewart, as well as two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Allen Reames. Norman is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman was predeceased by his parents, Ford and Elma (Springer) Parks; sister Joel Ann Deckerd; and his father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Rose (Lombardi) Greku.

The family would like to say thank you to Zusman Hospice for all their love and care.

His favorite saying, "Acceptance is the answer to all my problems," reflects the wisdom and perspective he shared throughout his life. Norman will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
