Norman William Spuehler of Westerville, Ohio passed away peacefully on June 6, 2015.
Norman was born on June 1, 1927 in Stockton, California to Jacob and Bessie Spuehler who preceded him in death. Survivors include son, Kent (Linda) Spuehler of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Jackie (Jeffery) Gal of Castle Pines, Colorado; grandsons, Scott (Breanna) Gal of Lincoln, Nebraska and Matthew (Oksana) Gal of Santa Rosa, CA; step-grandson Tim Heyer of Denver, Colorado; and great-granddaughters Olive and Violet Gal, both of Lincoln, Nebraska. He is also survived by his first wife, Evelyn Spuehler of Castle Pines, Colorado and several cousins in California. In addition to his family, Norman will be missed terribly by his church community and many friends.
Norman was honorably discharged from the United States Navy Active Reserves in 1945 and was proud to be a World War II Veteran.
Norman earned his bachelor's degree from Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA in June of 1952 and entered a long and successful career in the healthcare field. His career began at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA. After leaving California, his career brought Norman and his family to Kettering Memorial Hospital in Kettering, Ohio. Finally, Norman retired from the Ohio Healthcare Association in Columbus, Ohio as Vice President of Information Services in 1989.
Norman was an active member of the Eastwood Seventh-Day Adventist Church located at 6400 S. Sunbury Rd. Westerville, Ohio where he had previously served as Head Elder for nine years and traveled internationally to support those in need. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Eastwood Seventh-Day Adventist Church with funeral services at 3:00pm. An inurnment will take place at a later date in California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastwood Seventh-Day Adventist Junior Academy, 6350 S. Sunbury Rd. Westerville, OH 43081.
