Oliver Thurman Adair, age 85, took his final earthly journey on October 18, 2026, passing away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family.

Born on November 24, 1940, in the charming town of Delbarton, West Virginia, Oliver was the beloved son of John B. and Emma B. Adair.

Throughout his life, Oliver embodied the virtues of dedication, love, and a steadfast commitment to his family and community. His early years were shaped by his education at Birch High School and later Morehead University.

Oliver began his career as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in West Virginia, a testament to his nurturing spirit and desire to impart wisdom to younger generations. His professional journey also included significant contributions at Westinghouse and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

Oliver was a man of varied passions. An avid muskie fisherman and deer hunter, he found sanctuary in the great outdoors. His enthusiasm for Western movies and books was matched only by his love for exploring flea markets, earning him the affectionate nickname, "the tool man."

His devotion to his family was unparalleled. Married for 63 years to his cherished wife, Florence Adair, Oliver was a pillar of strength and a great provider. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Randall T. Adair (Jessica), Marc A. Adair (Tracy), and Lynn Huffer (Jim).

His legacy extends through his grandchildren, Michael, Meagan, Scott, Anthony, and Abbie, and Hunter, as well as 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Oliver's life was enriched by his siblings, Faye Adair, Jean Adair, and Brenda Sue Adair, and he held dear the memories of those who predeceased him, including his parents, his grandson Joshua Adair, great-granddaughter Maggie Adair, nephew Christopher Stratton, and daughter-in-law Lori Adair.

A devoted member of the Church of Christ and Muskies Inc. Central Ohio Chapter 41, Oliver's faith and camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts brought him joy and fulfillment. Known for his hard-working nature and zest for life, Oliver's stubborn determination was matched with a warm heart and a generous spirit.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, October 26th, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 (614-539-6166). A memorial service celebrating Oliver's remarkable life will immediately follow at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Jake Sturms and Marc Adair officiating.

The Adair family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Doctor's West Hospital for their excellent care and the wonderful staff who provided comfort during Oliver's final days. Oliver Thurman Adair's legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him, his life a testament to Jesus, love, family, and the cherished memories forged along the way.
