Ordice D. "Whitey" Thacker, 78, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 in Newark, OH. Ordice was born on October 16, 1938 in Betty, KY to Charlie and Nora Thacker.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, George, Copper, Esther, Martha, Samuel and Red; and his beloved dog, Giz.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Thacker; children, Gary (Catharina), Larry (Shirley), Richard and Sharon Thacker; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Mildred, Dan (Venita) and Ed (Cloke); and his faithful companion peanut.
Ordice was an employee of The City of Columbus Engineering Department as a Supervisor for 13 years. Prior to his employment with The City of Columbus, he worked for KoKosing as a Concrete Supervisor. Ordice was a long time member of Miller United Methodist Church. Many people don't know that he was a heart transplant recipient and received his operation on May 10, 2001. He lived 15 and a half years as a heart transplant survivor. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
