Oscar O. McClung, age 76, passed away on January 5, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1949, in Thurmond, West Virginia, a place that always stayed close to his heart.
Oscar’s greatest joy in life was his family and the people he loved. He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Deborah. Together they shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unconditional love. He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Bill) Walker, Richard (Amy) Urban, David (Mary) McClung, and Melissa (Sal) Nunez. Oscar was an incredibly proud grandfather to Adam, Corey, Raven, Korina, Francisco, Alyssa, Hayley, Mya, Lacey, and Lexy. His grandchildren brought him endless happiness, and he loved each of them deeply. Oscar also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws, and friends who were lucky enough to be part of his life. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome and valued.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty McClung; his sister, Clara Cain; his brother, Donald H. McClung and his lifelong friend, Merle Demarco.
Oscar proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran in Da Nang in 1970. After returning home, he spent 42 years working for CSX Transportation, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Risen Word Fellowship Church. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and reliability—traits that carried through every part of his life.

Family will welcome friends and loved ones on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm with a funeral service to begin at 5:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Oscar’s memory to Shriners Children’s or Tunnels to Towers.
