Patricia Ann Connor

January 3, 1942 — November 7, 2020

Patricia Ann Connor was called away on November 7, 2020, surrounded by family in Columbus, Ohio, after a long health battle that she faced with strength and faith. Pat was born January 1942 to the union of Augusta and Fannie Wiggins of Monroeville, Alabama where she attended Union High School.

She was preceded in death by parents Augusta and Fannie Wiggins. She leaves to cherish her memory husband of 59 years Robert "Bob" Connor, daughter Valerie Coleman; granddaughter Natalie Coleman, son Norman "Clift" (Shirri) Connor and grandson Chase Connor. Also left to cherish her memory are sisters, Shirley McKenzie, Helen Marbury, Bessie Stanton, Carrie (Bobby) Britford, and Sandra Smith, and brothers Augusta (Cindy) Wiggins, Jr. and John Felix Wiggins; special nieces Desiree (Rion) Robinson, Sonja Britford and Emery Robinson; uncle Jederson "Brother" Leslie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. The family would like to recognize her special friends Reverend AC and Rose Allen, Emma Gregory and Mary Robinson, uncle Jederson "Brother" Leslie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Pat was a devout Christian woman and was baptized at Carry Mount Baptist Church in Monroeville, Alabama. After she moved to Columbus, she became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church on Ohio Avenue. She later attended Second Baptist Church. It was through her faith that gave her the strength to face her long term progressive disease.

Pat Connor was a woman of incredible heart and opened her home to family and friends. She was a former employee of Columbus Children's Hospital and worked with Action for Children. She was an incredible cook and seamstress. Her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were legendary. Each one topped off with one of her many special pound cakes and sweet potato pies. Her talents expanded to crafts, ceramics and sweet pecan rolls. She enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables in her garden, especially greens.

One of her greatest legacy was the number of children she cared for and loved in her home. Mothers would come to her requesting if she was available to care for their children. She always said yes. Many of the children who came through her home returned to visit her.

Ultimately, her love of family brought her the greatest joy. Whether from Monroeville, Alabama to Columbus, Ohio, as she also cared for her father who was afflicted by the disease in her home. Her love and compassion for family and friends knew no bounds.

In lieu of flowers, the family request for donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
