Paul David Cavendish, 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 14th, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Herbert Lee and Verna May (Miltchen) Cavendish, Paul would go on to dutifully serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
Following his time in the service, Paul would go on to work for and eventually retire from Roadway Co. as a truck driver. Following his retirement, Paul would also go on to work for Cavalier Coach as a bus driver.
In his free time, Paul was an active member of the local VFW and The Fraternal Loyal Order of the Moose lodges. Paul was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians, as well as The Ohio State Buckeyes. He also found enjoyment in bowling and playing cards with his family and friends. Most of all, he found his greatest joys in life spending time and traveling with his family.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte Ann (Barker) Cavendsih, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, John Cavendish; brother, Robert (Nancy) Cavendish; and a sister, Nona (Mike) Long.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial contributions be made in Paul's memory to the Memorial Baptist Church's MSN Building Project (2435 Eakin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43204).
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Homes - Southwest Chapel (3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123). A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, at the funeral home.
Private graveside services will take place at Evergreen-Union Cemetery (616 Bridge Street, Waverly, Ohio 45690).
