In the late evening of November 16th, 2025, Paul Richard Sharpe passed away peacefully at StoryPoint Assisted Living, surrounded by his loved ones, at age 87. Paul was a kind, generous, faithful, loving, and loyal husband, father, and grandfather. His mission in life was to help others.

Born on June 7, 1938, in Genoa, Ohio, he was the youngest son of Edward and Louella Sharpe (Benedict). He graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961. He was stationed in France and England where he met Jasmine. In Bunwell, Norfolk, England, he married Jasmine Colchester in 1965. They were married for 60 years.

Paul worked at Brush Beryllium/Brush Wellman in the late 1960’s to the 1970’s. He was employed with Columbia Gas Company from the late 1970’s through the 1990’s, moving as needed from Clyde, Ohio, to Stanton, Kentucky, and ending up in Lancaster, Ohio, until his retirement at age 62. He was an avid Railfan who volunteered at the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum in Bellevue, Ohio. Paul was a lifetime member, the curator from 1978 to 1986 and also served as a Board Trustee 1984 to1986.

After retirement, he devoted his free time to working on the Buckeye Central Railroad in Logan, Ohio, and the Byesville Scenic Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Louella Sharpe, brother Robert (Barbara) Sharpe, and sister Maxine (Dale) Wax.

He is survived by his wife Jasmine; daughters Jane Badger and Joanna (Richard) Campbell; and grandchildren Emily, Ashley and Nathan Campbell. As well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private service will be held with immediate family in respect to his wishes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Mad River & NKP Railroad museum to support the Paul Sharpe Memorial Fund.
