Peggy Eileen (Weekley) Massey, 93, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at her home in Alexandria, Ohio. Peggy was born on April 29, 1933, in Bellaire, Ohio, to Parents Albert Ross Weekley and Mary Jane (Meek) Weekley. Peggy was married for 70 years to the love of her life, Robert (“Bob”) Massey. Peggy is survived by Daughters Rita Massey-Myer (Claude); Rhonda Pettit (David); Renee Galasso (Michael); and Myrna Brooks (David). Peggy is also survived by her Brother, Richard Weekley; Granddaughter, Denise Wolfe (Adam); two Great grandsons, Asher Wolfe and Oliver Wolfe; and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her Father, Ross Weekley; Mother, Mary Weekley; Husband, Robert Massey; Son, Randall Massey; Brother, Edward Weekley; and Sisters, Mildred Vincent, Dorothy Valkovic, Ruth Nevil, and Edna Rodgers.
In 1951, Peggy graduated Valedictorian from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Ohio. She was smart, articulate, and witty, even into her 90s. Peggy loved to work word puzzles, but only the hard ones—acrostics being her favorite. She not only wrote a book, “When I’m Young Again,” she faithfully kept a daily journal of her life with Bob over the years. Peggy was also a collector of quips and quotes, often reciting poems or adages (which she had for every occasion) by heart. Her sentiments and kindness touched a multitude of people over the years, especially her children, who loved her dearly.
A kind and gentle soul, Peggy was gifted in many ways, and her life was marked by her sentimental, creative, and artistic abilities. As a young girl, Peggy made intricate paper flowers and sold them, and the rest of Peggy’s life reflected her love of flowers. She made multitudes of flower arrangements and wreaths. She and Bob had glorious flowerbeds and gardens everywhere they lived, and together they transformed their Alexandria back yard into a lush and peaceful paradise. Their yard was always full of bird feeders and a variety of birds, which Peggy loved watching.
In her early married life, Peggy raised her five children. She later worked as a secretary, and she ran the several businesses she and Bob owned over the years, including “Woodmasters” in Alexandria. Peggy also ran the gift shop in the same building, “Woods ‘N Weeds,” where she hand crafted many of the floral and other creations the shop sold.
She loved people through her delicious cooking, and she was especially known for her wonderful homemade pies. She was a life-long and avid seamstress, sewing frilly dresses for her daughters and granddaughter when they were young; sewing doll dresses to be given Christmas morning; making ruffled curtains for her kitchen; and crafting a number of colorful and cherished quilts.
Over the years, Peggy and Bob had a number of dear pets, most of whom were strays they took into their home. But none of them was more devoted and precious to Peggy than her cat, Pesto, who was perpetually by her side or, more likely, on her lap. Pesto lovingly protected and cuddled close to Peggy up until her passing. Their relationship was very sweet and endearing.
Speaking of relationships, Peggy knew Jesus as her Savior. She missed Bob dearly, but she knew God would keep His promise of eternal life and that she would be reunited with Bob at her passing. She enjoyed hearing the Bible read aloud, and she had a soothing habit of singing hymns all throughout her life. Peggy and Bob were members at the First Baptist Church in Huron, Ohio, for many years and most recently were members at Pataskala Church of Christ.
Peggy was a very special person, loved by all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
Please join the family to celebrate her life at a memorial service on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Alexandria Church of Christ, 5380 Moots Run Road, Alexandria, Ohio 43001, at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be 10:00-11:00 a.m., just prior to the service.
