Phyllis J. (McClain) Basil, 86, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 65 years, on November 27, 2013. She was born on May 22, 1927 in Columbus, OH.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Mary McClain; and husband, Robert E. Basil.
She is survived by her children, Steven R. (Marna) Basil, Kathleen (Dan Tigner) Basil, Kristine (Buzz) Wright and Karen (Donald) Crabbe; grandchildren, Nancy, Brian, Chad, April, Angie, Nick, Lyndsey, Ashley and Greg; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, E. Paul McClain; and many beloved friends in central Ohio and Venice, FL.
Phyllis was dedicated to her family, and her passing leaves a void that will be filled with precious memories of a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She would like to leave a final message to her family and friends:
"Bury my faults and my weaknesses. Give my sins to the devil. Give my soul to God. If you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or a word to someone who needs you. If you do as I ask, I will live forever."
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 followed by funeral services at 3:00pm. An entombment for Phyllis will be held at 10:00am Monday, December 9, 2013 at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org in Phyllis' name.
