Rebecca "Becky" Sue Coakley

Rebecca Sue Coakley, age 63, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on January 9, 2026 at her home. She was born on May 29, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Richard and Janet Kahler.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Kahler, sister, Barbara Kahler, grandson, Marquis VanAtta, and beloved dog, Curtis.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Herschel Coakley, children, Janet Cavazos, Beth VanAtta, Travis VanAtta, grandchildren, Daniel, Alex, Chucky, Kristen, siblings, Richard Kahler, Beth Blessing, Beatrice Kahler, special dog, Little Poe, and many extended family members and friends.

Becky was a phenomenal cook. She enjoyed gardening and planting her flowers. She loved spending time with family, having cookouts. She always looked forward to big holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Becky also enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.

She will be deeply missed.

Per Becky's wishes, a dignified cremation will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home.
