Richard R Brigode

Richard “Dick” R. Brigode, 80, of Gahanna, Ohio, died at his home after a difficult battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

A graduate of St. Mary’s High School and a veteran of the United States Navy, Dick is survived by his wife Christine; his daughter LauraLee (Bill); his grandchildren Tyler, Dillon, Caley, Caleb, Carter, and Elliott; and family and friends.

Preceeded in death by his parents, and his son Christopher.

Dick was a self-taught musician but you would have thought he was a seasoned professional if you heard him play the banjo, guitar, ukulele, bugle, or trumpet. Dick loved sailing, golfing, hiking, and spending time with his dogs and his wife. If you knew him, you were lucky; if he liked you, you were even luckier.

He fought hard at the end and he will be greatly missed. Dick had been known to “chase the rain” during a hike: heading out to the woods before a rain shower, finding a spot to take cover while watching the wildlife scurry for protection, taking in the peaceful calm during the rain, and finishing his hike, heading home after the storm.

Visitation hours for the family will take place Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 1-3pm at Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 E Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43231
