Richard James Young Jr. ("Skip")

Richard James Young Jr., lovingly known as "Skip," passed away peacefully at his home in Westerville, Ohio, on July 27, 2026, at the age of 84. He was surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and two children.

Skip was born on May 19, 1942, in Amanda, Ohio. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, demonstrating the courage and dedication that would continue to define his life.

He was the beloved husband of Marsha Young and a devoted father to Matthew Young and Marisa (Michael) Benedetti. His greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren: Trinity, Cadence, Cayleigh, Zoe, and Mila. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack (Judy) Young and Darrell (Dona) Young, his sister, Linda Young, nieces and nephews and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Skip was a longtime member of Genoa Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life. He found great satisfaction in caring for his yard and garden, taking pride in creating beauty around his home. Growing up and all through his college career, he excelled at playing sports. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life, especially enjoying baseball, golf and horse racing.

Known for his strength, determination, steady presence, and generous heart, Skip was more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend—he was a father figure and mentor to many. His quick wit, unwavering character, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Though his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the legacy of faith, love, strength, and kindness that he leaves behind. His memory will live on in the lives of those he loved and the countless people who were blessed by knowing him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered.
