Richard Lee Larger, born on January 17, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Westerville, Ohio. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Naval Reserves and a dedicated professional who spent many years working in the retail department store business at Lazarus, Higbee's, Gimbels, Jaison's, the Stephen Richard Company, The Centre and self-employed as a manufacturer's representative.
Richard graduated from South High School in Columbus and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University in 1957. His accomplishments extended beyond academics into his personal passions. He was an avid collector of antique automobiles. He attended many car shows, auctions and car cruises and found joy in watching auto racing in all its forms. Richard was an avid football fan both attending and watching Ohio State football, Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a lifelong passion for gardening. Dancing was also an important activity for Richard and Maureen. They were members of the United Methodist Church and believers in Christ our Redeemer.
He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey S. (Keren) Larger; Gary A. (Sue) Larger and daughter, Tracy L. Larger; his granddaughters, Alexandra Larger, Amelia (Nathan) MacEachen, and Noelle E. Larger; his grandson, Rosswell J. Larger; and his great-granddaughters, Layla J. MacEachen, Lilly M. MacEachen, and Niara Zaiana Larger Da Costa.
Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maureen M. Larger; his father, Frank Larger; and his mother, Grace (Kroegel) Larger.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Route 36 Motorcars, located at 7630 Fishel Drive N, Dublin, Ohio, 43016. Family and friends are welcome to come together to remember and honor Richard’s life.
