Richard Michael Mathews, 61, born Feb. 10, 1957, passed away Nov. 15, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was under the care of OhioHealth Hospice at home, whom the family thanks for the great care they showed them.
He was born in Hilliard, OH to the late Richard and Colleen Galloway Mathews and was well known after many years with Hilliard schools, then 25 years at Dublin schools, including Chapman Elementary and Dublin Scioto HS. He was also an employee of Anderson Glass in the 70s and a long time worker at Luigi's pizza. He graduated from Hilliard HS in 1976.
Survived by his wife, Marla Cullins Mathews, whom he married June 25, 1994; son, Bobby (Marrena) Mathews stationed at Camp LeJeune NC; and expected first grandson. Also survived by sisters, Mary Brunet and Janet (Mark) Dandera; sister and brother-in-law, Molly (Rick) Todd; in-laws, Larry and Patricia Cullins; several aunts, nieces and nephews plus many beloved friends, including Paul and Tara Cordova.
Rick was a man of faith, loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Interests included electronics, music, his classic car, restoring his antique jukebox, coffee with friends at McDonald's, Luigi's pizza, playing his harmonica and trumpet, and cruising. He enjoyed life and his family most of all.
Visitation Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 from 1pm until the time of Funeral Service at 3pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
