Richard Eugene Sloan

Richard E. (Dick) Sloan, age 77, of Wheelersburg, OH formerly of Grove City, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018. He was born on May 13, 1940 in Nelsonville, OH. The son of the late Robert G. and Dorothy M. Sloan.
Graduated from Grove City High School in 1958. He served many decades in the transportation and logistics field and ended his career with over ten years employed in the Franklin County court system. He loved to garden and to paint, having sold over 200 oil paintings in his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah (Slemp) Sloan and his brother, Danny R. Sloan.
His survivors include sister, Lynda K. Southall (Howard); sons, Brian (Sarah) Sloan and Sean (Shelli) Sloan; step-children, Mickael (Jennifer) Slemp and Mary Carter. Grandfather of Kristen Slemp, Nick (Robyn) Carter, Katie (Lawson) George, Jon-Michael Slemp, Andrew Sloan, Patrick Sloan, Ellie Sloan and Sean Patrick Sloan; great-grandchildren, Emma and Carter George.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at Newcomer Grove City, 3393 Broadway.
Interment to follow at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SOMC Hospice, 1805 27th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
