Robert Leroy Backus

Robert Leroy Backus, born March 16th, 1968 passed from this life on September 9th, 2026 at home in Groveport, Ohio.

He is surived by his loving wife, Kandy Backus, who was not only his partner but his best friend since they took thier vows in 1989; His children, Aaron Robert Backus, Karah Finn (Maddy) Backus, Danny (Tammy) Casto, Adam (Jamie) Casto, and his grand-daughter Tori Casto; His brother Dennis (Celeste) Backus, sisters, Kelli Burchwell and Stephanie (Jessica) Thomas. also sister in-law Lou Berry, stepmother Carol Backus, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and best friends Mackie Bailey and Jeff Burton.

Rob was preceeded in death by his father Joseph Allen Backus, mother Mary Louise Thomas, his brother Mark Backus and his sister Kasey Robinette. As well a many other loved aunts, uncles and family.

Rob graduated from Groveport High School in 1986. He retired from the UPS trailor shop at the age of 49, after a successful career as a mechanic for 30 years.

Rob was an amazing father to all of his children as well as a devoted husband. He and Kandy shared a wonderful marriage full of love and laughter. Rob loved cutting wood to enjoy fires around the family firepit, bowling, and golf. Spending time with his grandaughter was another favorite past time. He was an avid Buckeye and Bengals fan.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Rob's life on Monday September 21, 2026 from 12pm until the time of service at 2 pm with Pastor Keith Parsons officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio (614-539-6166).
