Robert Brian Barry, age 57 of Columbus, OH, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, after a long health battle following multiple strokes. Born October 22, 1968, to Robert and Constance (Parker) Barry of Col, OH.
Much of Rob’s life was spent rooted in the same north Columbus neighborhood, forming bonds that spanned a lifetime. Rob had a large presence in the Columbus music scene, turning his passion for music into a career as a proud journeyman stagehand in the IATSE Local 12 stagehands union. So, you have Rob and his friends to thank for any production/show you have seen in central Ohio in the last 3+ decades. Rob enjoyed mentoring young people, as a scout leader for his son’s Boy Scout troop and later for the new members of the IATSE Local 12.
Rob was not one for grand gestures, instead he showed up with consistency, loyalty, and speaking his mind. He enjoyed fishing, OSU football, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Papa Rob was the best gift-giver, light bulb changer, and boss of all things up high. Anyone who knows Rob has a story or few, enough to fill volumes.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Butch” Barry and Constance Barry, and his best friend, Thomas “Big Red” Smith.
Survived by his son Zachary Barry, significant other Barbara Muldrew, and granddaughters Amelia, Luna and Josephine, cousin Mary Campbell and numerous friends.
