Robert "Bob" Kline

December 24, 1940 — June 14, 2025

Columbus

Robert "Bob" Kline, aged 84, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 14, 2025. Born on December 24, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob was a man whose life was defined not only by his accomplishments but by the deep love he had for his family and friends.

As a semi-truck driver and owner-operator for most of his life, Bob found joy in the open road, owning his own company and also working as a mechanic at Shell Gas Station and a driver for RC Cola. His expertise on the road earned him the affectionate title of being a "walking map," a GPS before GPS existed.

Bob was a loving father to his daughters, Darlene Smith, Barbara Maxwell, Kathleen (Bob) Davis, and his son Joseph Kline. He cherished his role as a stepfather to Loretta Backus, Pandora Stollard, and Linda (Bob) Bauer. His heart swelled with pride for his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and fulfillment. Bob’s love also extended to his girlfriend Brenda Rodriguez, who was an important part of his life.

He was known for his great kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others. He had a unique way of doing things that was distinctly his own, embodying a spirit of determination and dedication. Bob loved going out to eat and enjoying cookouts, moments that created lasting memories for his family. He enjoyed taking his granddaughter on a memorable ride across the country from Florida to Ohio, and his late wife joined him for adventures from coast to coast. He would often stop by loved ones while on the road to visit. His love for the journey was palpable, a testament to his passion for exploration and connection.

Beyond the truck cab, Bob was a proud member of the Columbus Muzzle Loading Gun Club, a devoted hunter, and a passionate admirer of old cars and racing vehicles. His enthusiasm for The Ohio State Buckeyes ran deep, and he took pride in being an NRA supporter. Bob was also a stock car owner, always opting to travel by car, reflecting his love for the road as a cherished way to connect with the world around him. Old-time country music filled his heart and his home, complementing the stories and laughter shared with family.

Bob's proudest accomplishments lay in his unwavering dedication to his family, from building his business to ensuring their well-being. He was a loving and compassionate individual, adored by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Emma Kline, his beloved wife, Suzanne Stone, his brother Joseph Kline, and his son James Kline. Additionally, he mourned the passing of his step-sons Lewis and Glenn Miller and step-daughter Treese Miller.

A visitation to honor Bob’s life will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio, on June 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. He will then be interred at Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio, at 1:00 PM.

Bob Kline was a man whose journey touched many hearts, and he will be profoundly missed. His spirit, the stories he shared, and the love he embodied will forever be a part of those who were privileged to know him.
